Project Background

This project provides for the renovation of the six tennis courts located at Annie Jones Park, replacement of the five courts at R. S. Dunham Park, and the installation of new pickleball and basketball courts at Walnut Street Park.

The tennis courts at Dunham & Jones are heavily used throughout the year for recreational play and tournament events. The asphalt courts have continued cracking over the past few years causing maintenance repairs to be frequent. The life of both tennis courts have surpassed expectations and has become necessary for replacement.

Project Scope

The Walnut Street Park project will include the addition of two pickleball courts, a small basketball court, and areas for picnic tables with new sidewalks connecting all new amenities to existing restrooms and parking.

The R. S. Dunham Park project will replace the existing five courts with six new tennis courts, a practice wall, site utilities, connecting sidewalks, landscaping, and a picnic shelter.

The Annie Jones Park project will renovate the six existing courts, site utilities, sidewalks, and landscaping. Work shall also include reconfiguration of adjacent parking spaces to provide room for the court renovation expansion.

Some of the existing amenities at Annie Jones as well as Walnut Street Park will remain open.

While R. S. Dunham Park's parking lot will be closed, the basketball courts and playgrounds will be accessible by the sidewalk along Walnut Street.

Project Cost and Schedule

Funding for design was appropriated in FY 2018 while funding for construction will be requested in a future year. The Annie Jones and R. S. Dunham projects will be phased separately to maximize the number of courts available to citizens and programmed events during construction.

Design/Construction/Completion: Winter 2020/Summer 2021/Winter 2022
