Covid-19: Status of Facilities and Programs

Last updated September 25, 2020

All Cary staffed facilities are closed to the public. For the health and safety of our firefighters and citizens, we have closed all fire stations to visitors and are not accepting donations at fire stations at this time. Our firefighters appreciate your kindness and look forward to welcoming you back to our fire stations. The Cary Police Station is operational but closed to the public. For emergencies, dial 911.

The Citizen’s Convenience Center remains open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. Visitors are required to follow social distancing practices, unload their own items for disposal, and keep any children in the car at all times.

To support the health and safety of our citizens and employees, we are increasing the frequency with which we clean surfaces in Town of Cary facilities where essential employees are working. We have enacted even more thorough cleaning and sanitizing protocols for facilities and employees at fire stations, water treatments facilities, fire and police vehicles, and in our Emergency Operations Center. A majority of Town employees are working remotely in their homes during this pandemic.

Parks & Greenways

Parks, greenways, playgrounds, athletic fields, and courts remain open. Visitors are required to practice social distancing and maintain separation of six feet from other visitors to the park.

Cary Boards & Commissions

Town advisory boards, commissions, and committee meetings are now being held virtually according to their regular schedule. For more information, visit our Boards, Committees, & Commissions page.

All NC Public Schools will remain closed through the end of the academic school year. Learn more at the Wake County Public School System website.

Programming & Events

No Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources programming including classes, events, facility rentals, and leagues is being held in person at this time, though some will continue virtually. For live events that have been rescheduled, see the list below.

If you are registered for or have tickets to an event, program, league, or class that is not canceled, but you do not feel comfortable attending due to COVID-19, the Town will also issue a refund. Citizens are encouraged to call the facility at which the event was scheduled for up-to-date information, or contact Cary Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources at (919) 469-4061 or for assistance.
